Wait Gain

I wish I could tell you that nature photography is as easy as just go outside and “point-and-shoot.” Perhaps it is for some people. But I’ve rarely found that to be the case for me.

Sometimes, I have to wait for the right time of year to photograph fall colors:

Often, I have to wait for the wind to subside before clicking the shutter to capture a wildflower close-up:

Mules ears - Humbolt-Toiyabe National Forest, Nevada

On occasion, I have to wait for an overcast sky to provide even light to shoot a waterfall:

Just before Jesus returned to heaven, he told his disciples, “Wait.”

I am going to send you what my Father promised;
but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.

– Luke 24:49 (NIV)

The disciples did what Jesus wanted them to do. And they gained the Holy Spirit.

I wish I could tell you that in my spiritual life I’m always as patient as I am in my photography. I’m not. But with the Holy Spirit’s help, I’m working on it.

With the Lord a day is like a thousand years,
and a thousand years are like a day.

– 2 Peter 3:8b (NIV)
