“C” It

Gigi Graham is Billy and Ruth Graham’s oldest child. (Or as she likes to say, “the child that her parents loved the longest.”)  A while back, I was blessed to be in the audience when she spoke about the fundamental elements in Jesus’ life:

CRADLE

Jesus was God who came to earth, born of a virgin, to reveal God’s love for us. He provided words of guidance as well as a living example of how we should interact with both our Heavenly Father and other people.

CROSS

After living a sinless life, Jesus was crucified as a sacrifice to pay the penalty for our sins.

CROWN

Jesus victoriously arose from the dead, demonstrating God’s power over death and Satan, and now reigns in Heaven as King of kings and Lord of lords.

A couple of weeks after that experience, I began to “C” three basic ways that nature photography and the life of faith are related:

CONSIDER

When outdoors with my camera equipment, I carefully think about what to photograph, trying to determine what subject will make a worthwhile image.  >>>  In my spiritual journey, I need to embrace the truth of God’s existence and His love for me.

COMMIT

Once I find a subject to photograph, I must then spend the necessary time and effort to set up my camera and wait for the optimal moment to click the shutter. >>> To enter into a relationship with God, I have to admit I have sinned (that is, fallen short of God’s ideal), ask God to forgive me, and ask Jesus to be the Lord of my life.

COMMUNICATE

The above process yields an image that becomes a part of my photographic journey which I can use to “show and tell” what I saw and experienced. >>> As I travel the path in my spiritual journey, I need to convey to other people what God has done for me and how He is working in my life.
