UTAH – GRAND COUNTY – Utah 128

Notes: A couple miles north of the town of Moab off US 191, State Highway 128 heads to the northeast, going all the way to I-70. For the first 30 miles or so, the road plays peekaboo with the Colorado River. There are a number of spots where you can pull off and enjoy the scenery along this mighty waterway. At Mile 14 (from US 191) is Red Cliffs Lodge, which serves a charcoal-grilled lunch outdoors on the Pioneer River Deck on the bank of the Colorado River (no reservations needed). The Lodge also has a very interesting movie museum, free and open to the public. At Mile 21, a dirt road turns off to the southeast which will take you to a close-up view of scenic Fisher Towers. At Mile 24.7 in late afternoon, look back to the south-southeast for a stunning view of Fisher Towers and the La Sal Mountains. Pit toilets are available at various spots along the highway.
