NORTH CAROLINA – HOLMES EDUCATIONAL STATE FOREST

Notes: Holmes Educational State Forest is located at 1299 Crab Creek Road, between Hendersonville and Brevard. The last few days of March through mid-April is a wonderful time to visit this location. Without hesitation, I recommend the Talking Trees Trail as a wildflower destination, which can provide a plethora of spring wildflowers, such as Bloodroot, Trout Lily, Spring Beauty, and Wild Geranium. Also, close by the amphitheater, just off the Soil and Water Conservation Trail, I found Oconee Bells, Sweet White Trillium, and Jack-in-the-Pulpit. There are restrooms and picnic tables near the parking area. There is no charge for admission or parking.
