NORTH CAROLINA – ASHEVILLE – North Carolina Arboretum

Notes: Located in the western part of the state, between Asheville and Skyland, the North Carolina Arboretum is a treasure. My wife and I have visited in the months of May, July, and October. We’ve always found colorful and interesting things to see and photograph that made our visits enjoyable and worthwhile. Most of the walkways and paths are hard surface, which makes getting around fairly easy. Much of the area is in full sun, so you may want to bring along a water bottle per person during warmer weather to make sure you stay hydrated. A vehicle-based and (as opposed to a per-person) admission fee is charged. (They call it a Parking Fee.) A small discount is offered for AAA members if you have your current membership card with you.
