NEVADA – CATHEDRAL GORGE STATE PARK

Notes: Not particularly well-known, this state park is located in southeast Nevada, a short distance north of the Panaca NV community and about 80 miles west of Cedar City UT. Bentonite clay has been eroded into tall, buff-colored formations. You can wander among the towering cliffs, discovering narrow spaces which turn into slot canyons where the sky becomes a narrow slit above you. Moon Caves, Canyon Caves, and Cathedral Caves are all worth exploring. There are picnic tables and a pit toilet in the Day Use area. There are also restrooms at the Visitor Center. An admission fee is charged for entry into the park.
