SOUTH CAROLINA – PLEASANT RIDGE COUNTY PARK – Pleasant Ridge Falls
Photo Experience: This county park contains a beautiful waterfall worth visiting. To photograph the falls, I found the angle that worked best for me was to walk past the falls on the trail and take the more or less level path on the left that provided fairly easy access to the base of the falls. From this area, I was able to create both horizontal and vertical compositions. I went to this location after a couple of days of rain which yielded a good flow of water over the rocks. And, a tripod allowed me to use a shutter speed of 5 seconds.
Other Info: In Greenville County, from the junction of highways US 25 and SC 11, drive about 2 miles south on SC 11. Turn right into the park and proceed to the parking lot at the end of the road. Walk the gravel road to the picnic shelter. Proceed past the shelter to the kid’s playground. A nature trail begins among the trees, just to the left of the playground. Carefully descend the embankment on the rock steps, around which significant erosion has taken place. At the T intersection, turn right. After about 0.1 mile, the trail crosses a bridge. The falls will be on the left no more than 2 minutes walk past the bridge.
