NORTH CAROLINA – PISGAH NATIONAL FOREST – Looking Glass Falls

Notes: Chances are pretty good you will not have this spot to yourself. Nevertheless, the volume of water normally flowing over the rock face makes this beautiful and popular roadside waterfall worth stopping at. Morning is a better time to be here rather than later in the day for two reasons. First, there will probably be fewer people to contend with. Second, even on a day with clear sky and full sun, this waterfall will remain in the shade for a good portion of the morning, making it more favorable for an evenly-lit photograph. Directions: Take U.S. 276 north from Brevard, North Carolina, for about six miles. There will be a long, parallel parking area on the right before you get to the falls.
