CALIFORNIA  –  YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK  –  Yosemite Valley

Notes: Yosemite Valley is a place of extraordinary scenic beauty! Unfortunately, it is also a poster child for a National Park site that has been “loved to death.” To see the waterfalls at their peak, plan to visit in early June. But be aware you will be sharing your experience with several thousand other folks. Using the free shuttle may not only be a good idea, it may be a requirement when you are there. Easy, worthwhile Valley trails include Bridalveil Fall, Lower Yosemite Fall, and Cook’s Meadow Loop. A longer hike, Mirror Lake, is best done in the afternoon to have a chance of capturing a reflection of Half Dome in Tenaya Creek. An entrance fee or appropriate pass is required to get into the park. Also, check in advance for any permitted entry requirements and to check for any road closures.
