NORTH CAROLINA – BLUE RIDGE PARKWAY – Craggy Gardens

August 2014

Photo Experience:   Early in August, I spent a day with fellow photographer Bill Robertson in this area, which is about 20 miles northeast (Parkway direction “North”) of Asheville. The blooms of Catawba rhododendron, for which this area is known, were long past for the year. But we did find an abundance of wildflower opportunities at both the area around the Visitor Center and the road up to the Picnic Area. To help isolate specimens that were of interest, macro lenses were extremely helpful in the shooting conditions we encountered on this day.
