COLORADO – ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK – Horseshoe Park

Photo Experience: I suggest entering Horseshoe Park from Deer Ridge Junction. A short distance down the hill on the right is an overlook. With a telephoto lens, this spot will provide a good vantage point from which to photograph aspens on the ridge across the valley. On the north side of Sheep Lakes, morning light on a calm day can provide some nice reflection opportunities. Elk frequent this area during the fall. Although I observed one herd of nearly seventy animals here, none were close enough to photograph.

Other Info:   An admission fee, or appropriate federal pass, is required for entrance into the park. Nearest motel accommodations are in Estes Park.
