This pull-out is at the western end of Yosemite Valley. The road on which it is located is one-way, heading west.
Date of Visit:
Late June 2013
Time of day:
This is a good place to visit in the afternoon. If there is little or no breeze, there are reflection opportunities in the Merced River. Downstream (right) from the parking area will yield a decent view of El Capitan (top left). However, sun shining directly on the water will mitigate the reflection to a degree. I had better luck moving upstream (left from the parking area) to the riverbank under the trees. The trees shaded the water’s surface, providing a more saturated reflection of Cathedral Rocks and Bridalveil Fall (bottom). Using a telephoto lens, I also experimented with an abstract of Bridalveil (top right).
